The Kirklees Cycling Academy (otherwise known as KCA) was founded late 2009 and opened its doors in February 2010. The club was formed to address a gap in the cycling market as no other club in the district is focussed exclusively on younger riders.

We are 100% committed to supporting the development of riders aged 8-18 and work very closely with British Cycling delivering high quality coaching and education via their Go-Ride programme.

By working to best practice coaching programmes we hope to not only develop champions within the KCA itself, but to support the future cycling development of our riders by acting as a feeder club for the British Cycling Talent Team programme, the British Cycling Regional School of Racing programme.

We have already secured financial support from some community minded business people in Kirklees and through public funding, from both the Police Community fund and Sport England.

This has allows the purchase of indoor training resources such as 30 x sets of rollers, 2 x Watt bikes (as used by the British and Australian Olympic teams) and some competition class bikes for use by club members in both Road and Cyclo-cross events.

We do not claim to be perfect or that we can turn your son or daughter into the next Mark Cavendish or Victoria Pendleton but if they have potential, we along with the British Cycling regional development team will aim to provide them with coaching support that improves their ability and helps them achieve more than they would achieve without our support.
The club can only be a success and achieve its goals with your involvement, so please come along and join in.
