Road Racing

Recent years have seen many cyclists become household names and raise the awareness of cycling not only nationally, but globally. This has boosted participation levels, membership levels at clubs and British Cycling and affects how local authorities and Government consider the role of cycling and supporting cycle sport.

With high profile riders such as Bradley Wiggins, Mark Cavendish, Laura Trott, Lizzie Armistead, Adam and Simon Yates alongside local talent such as Ed Clancy, Ben Swift, Dean Downing, Russ Downing, Jake Womersley, Tom Murray, Gabz Cullaigh, Abby-Mae Parkinson, along with up and coming talent from the KCA stable such as Harry Hardcastle, Brad Dransfield, Tom Humphrey and others, we have many people to learn from and take inspiration from on the road race scene.

Kirklees is a region that can be extremely proud of it’s road race heritage, over many years it has spawned countless champions in the road race discipline, among them Britain’s first Tour de France stage winner and now national treasure Mr Brian Robinson, multi National road Champion’s Lisa Brambani and the perhaps lesser know Mr Albert Hitchen.

Geographically we are ideally placed and fortunate to have a full road calendar from March through to September, with regular Youth events being promoted in East, West and South Yorkshire via The White Rose Youth league, further afield the CDNW league in Lancashire, Tameside League in Ashton under Lyne and many other events in and around the North East, North West and Midlands along with the National Series promoted by British Cycling.

Through our wealth of qualified coaches, facilities and experience the Kirklees Cycling Academy is committed to helping any youngster in our club to achieve their aspiration of following in the wheel tracks of our Road racing greats.

We look forward to welcoming you to our club.
